Tribute to David Bowie’s Blackstar & Björk’s Debut

s t a r g a z e, Anna Calvi, Soap&Skin & Laetitia Sadier

The Huvila tribute concert salutes two iconic and unique artists, David Bowie and Björk.

During his 40-year career, David Bowie left a permanent mark on pop culture as both a pioneering artist and style icon. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th album that was released in January 2016 just two days before his death, became his musical testament.

Björk’s artistically uncompromising solo career began in 1993 with Debut, which has since been hailed as one of the most significant pop albums of the decade. Combining electronic music, pop and jazz with a personal twist, the album’s classic tracks include Human Behaviour and Big Time Sensuality.

At Huvila, songs from Bowie’s Blacksta rand Björk’s Debut are explored by the s t a r g a z e collective, who test the boundaries of classical music, singer-songwriter-guitarist Anna Calvi, post-rock group Stereolab’s former vocalist Laetitia Sadier and the Austrian artist Soap&Skin.

Captivating arrangements of Blackstar songs by André de Ridder and Aart Strootman of s t a r g a z e as well as guest composers have previously been heard at, for example, the BBC Proms festival in London, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

NB! Also available is  the s t a r g a z e residency ticket starting from €111, including three Huvila concerts (Anna Calvi 19.8., Tribute to Blackstar & Debut & Lisa Hannigan with s t a r g a z e 21.8., €130 when purchased separately). Read more and purchase the combination ticket here.
